Does Toyota Use Special "Break-In" Oil?

    Probably won't make any difference for naturally aspirated cars/trucks like Tacoma or Highlander but on my VAG turbo cars Castrol always came in with better results than Mobil1 on Blackstone report.

    As far as a break-in oil is concerned, you need to be aware of whether it contains any zinc. Zinc will kill your cat. I only use zinc containing oils on non-catalytic and typically flat-tappet engines. Otherwise, I'll use non-synth for the first 1000. With my 19 Tacoma, I'll just follow the factory reccomendation until the end of Toyota Care. After that, it's synthetic and a factory filter every 5K. 5K seems to be a good interval as far as flushing contaminates out of the engine.
