This morning I went to fire up my truck, 97 2.7l 5sp manual Tacoma, and it made a really loud clunking noise, almost gear grinding, and a hum and didn't start, any thoughts? Starter? Flywheel? I tried hitting the starter with a hammer and nothing changed, she was running just fine 12 hours prior

Probably the starter solenoid. Gear grinding sound is starter gear against the flywheel. There should be an inspection panel you can remove to see where the started engages the flywheel. Take that off and see what you see. hopefully you don't have any chipped teeth on the flywheel.

Sometimes you can redneck it and just tap the starter with a hammer to get it going again (temporary). Or just replace the starter.
