Hello everyone! I don't have a tacoma. I have been wanting one forever and I'm finally about to make a move. For the past week, all I've done is read 3rd gen TW forums in my spare time. I'm tempted to get a new 2019 but I'm holding out a couple more months for updates the 2020 model. Either way, I'm set on the TRD Offroad. I got some ideas for some mods right off the bat, but I'll get into that later. By the way, I won't chime in to any other TW forums until I get a tacoma for myself. I will however, be doing a lot of research in the meanwhile. Thanks everyone! If you have any advice for me about these 3rd gens, comment below!

Welcome! I bought a 2015 earlier this year due to the reliability issues with the 3rd Gen and the numerous complaints about the transmissions. I'm comparing the 3rd Gen to the 2nd Gen Tacoma, not other brands, I assume the 3rd Gen is more reliable than the current competition.

    Welcome

2020 will have power seats if you like that, BUT the few updates for the 20 might make the new 19s still sitting around the lots cheaper. It all comes down to personal preference.

Thank's everyone! I still need to test drive a 2019!

Thanks a very good point.. I might be able to make a sweet deal on a 2019.

I've been reading a lot about re-gearing to 5.29 makes a huge difference. I would hate to have to do this to a brand new truck that has warrantees, but some say its a huge improvement. What do you guys think? This has been the only thing turning me away from the tacoma in general. I'd put 33s on with possibility of 35s down the road. It'd be my daily driver 90% on road and 10% offroad up until the next year. In a year I'm moving to Alaska so probably more then :bananadance:. I plan to road trip up there in the tacoma with a small enclosed trailer. Re-gearing would be done before the trip.

I have 33s on stock gears (2nd gen) and I will consider regearing and 35s AFTER my powertrain warranty expires... I don’t think it’s a good idea right now unless you are just rolling in cash.

If you want to regear what about considering a tacoma that has just passed its warranty period? Some people trade them in as soon as the warranty expires just to get the next and best thing.
