Changed the front differential, rear and transfer case oil today (Amsoil 75/90 extreme duty) as well as the engine oil and rotated the tires. As I was laying under the back admiring the relatively rust free state of things, I began to wonder what size spare will fit under there. Any one have experience with a bigger tire down there???

Just the stock ties at this point. Will be going bigger once I get the lift done. Those are some big "stuffs"! Wow.

The metal tabs that hold the tire from moving around, can modified (ie bent) outwards to accommodate a larger tire than stock..I just don't know how far they are able to go. I've only got stock 265/65-17s on my Tacoma right now so l can't say for sure.

The same shit everyone else has.
Just stuffed a 285/70/17 up under mine today. Didn’t modify the tabs. Driver side touches the shackle hanger. Passenger side is about 1/2” from the heat shield on the tailpipe. Back side is about 1/2” from the hitch.

Tire only has 6/32nd tread on it. It it was a new tire, it would damn near be resting on the exhaust.

I may attempt to bend the exhaust hanger mounts to get a little more clearance.
