    Being that you have a 2005, they are known to be prone to engine mount failures at the frame. The welds would crack and the mounts would bend or tear inward to the frame. Gusset kits are now offered, due to that commonality.

    Just wanted to get you up to speed on that, so that you can make adjustments and prevent it, with all that you are getting into.

    THANK YOU! I've never heard of that. And I really appreciate advice like this! Maybe this is why the Tundra mounting brackets were built so different - And that being said, maybe I should plan to weld the Tundra brackets into the Tacoma frame.

    Easy fix for the front core support. Riv-nuts, and a small bracket for each side. Done. If you hadn't thought of that already.

    Since you'll be welding on plates to fix the rusted frame sections, don't forget about the stock Tacoma motor mount areas that used to crack on your frame year. You'll be modifying those mounts anyway, so while you're in there, beef up the frame there too.
