Just realized there's a Hilux forum here - maybe its intent was for new Hilux's but I see lots of peeps posting their pre-Tacomas too. I Tried Yotatech but I don't like that site's setup. Anyway, posting a current pic of my '86. Not sure if I'm going to turn this into a build/restore thread. Bought it in relatively good shape so it didn't/doesn't need a restore per-se, but have done lots here and there to bring it to my standards. I've some 100 pictures or so of the things Ive done.

    Some info -

Build Date: Jan 1986, delivered to Sunnyvale Toyota
Specs: 1986 4x4 Xtra Cab SR5 (power windows, dome lights, map pockets, bucket seats, tachometer), ledge 22RE, 275k miles, 5 speed manual, all original paint in Toyota 033 (what a wonderful shade of white), original stripes, all original interior save for HU and seats from a '92 4runner (I've got the originals), non A/C truck (Vent on 'Cool' works surprisingly well to flow cool air around), no cracks in the dash, some other things I'll add at some point. I've got the original mudflaps and rear bumper, just running without at the moment. Please enjoy and let me know if anyone has questions. I love driving this thing as much as my '12.

Dang, that's very nostalgic for an 80s kid. Reminds me of my best friend's truck in high school. The era correct modular American Racing wheels and white letter BFGs make it perfect.

    Nice!

It is in remarkable condition, thanks. Every time I look at it in the garage I'm simply amazed. Zero rust anywhere on the body. Even the bed seams are in mint condition. Believe it or not, the interior pictures I have are in various states of disassembly - mainly seats out, center console out. I'll take a sold pic today with the '92 runner seats and post.

Thanks for the comments guys...I'll post some more pics tonight with some of the notable additional work I've put in such as the full detail with the porter cable, Meguiar's Ultimate Compound and Ultimate Paste Wax, the 4runner seats and so forth. She's a dry weather, weekend warrior now. I take her to Home Depot, my parents house, Starbucks, friends houses. Without all of the safety stuff, crumple zones and general fattening up of all cars these days, plus the upright and open space cabin design of 80's vehicles, the driving/seating position is nearly as roomy, with better visibility, as my '12 believe it or not.

@ArmandHammer83 - don't feel bad about the states of these trucks in most of the country. I'm located in CT but in no way did I source this locally as the ones around here, if they even exist, rock the old oak bed n' rack in addition to the fenders and rockers being completely rotten. Had to look far out in the west which pointed me to this one in the San Jose, CA area. I loved the fact that it was all original (no repaint, stripes in tact), complete, in white, had zero rust, no mods besides the radio and runs like a top. I'm somewhat bias but I might go so far as to say this is a excellent survivor.

    Couple more pics as requested...

The paint, though original, was a bit flat. I knew it could be rejuvenated so I gave it a go with the Porter Cable and Meguiar's Ultimate Compound. In progress shot:

Refreshed chrome grille, bumper and bumper caps:

Interior with the '92 4runner seats (interior a bit messy at the moment):

A high school buddy got a brand new ‘85 when we graduated. I believe that is what started my liking Toyota’s.

Like a lot of guys, I watched Back to the Future and it was all over. That '85 Xcab from Statler Toyota changed me forever.
