The ignition cylinders do break down over time. Maybe it’s locked because it’s fucked up.

You can do the remove-the-cylinder-and-start-it-with-a-screwdriver method until you off load that 10 lb. keychain and get the cylinder rekeyed..

I always love reading about something breaking and then they throw in that the gf or wife was driving. Makes me wonder what part of the story we're missing

WTF is wrong with you guys? GF was driving so it's automatically her fault/something she did? You all instinctively hold your mothers/wives/GFs/daughters in such low regard, too? Even if you're "just joking", it's pretty freaking sad.

Yall are talking about all the "shit" hanging from his keys.. all i see is a tile and the fob??

Super weird.. im guessing that somehow a knee hit and bent the key, screwed the ignition lock up, causing the steering to "go out"

    :notsure:

Sounds pretty simple to me! Too much shit on the key ring, something swung and got caught while she was bouncing around, tried to turn the wheel that was stuck on the key ring, which was connected to the key in your ignition. Trying to force the turn pulled on the key ring and bent your key. Hard to turn one direction, maybe enough slack the other way. Should be totally fine, just replace that key! You can try to bend it back into shape, but I'd be weary of that. Don't want it to break off in the cylinder.

Here is the scenario, pick out the outlier. Key and truck were fine. Girlfriend drives truck. Key is bent.

I would seriously consider taking the GF to small claims court.

Yes, this is clearly a case of driver error. I've never heard of a truck doing this on its own before...

You must have never seen any other threads like this... Truck is fine. Wife/gf drives truck. Something completely unheard of happens or breaks. Hmm? You do the math.
