Why not have it repaired by a pro? Any body man worth his salt could make that look perfect.

 

The problem is finding that body man. I’d definitely go new.

 

I’d check junkyards for a red tailgate. I found 2 color matched doors to fix my daughter’s Forester at a junk yard 4 hours north of me, a couple months ago. I drove up and back in a day, put the doors on the next day and saved about $2,400 against having a body shop do the repair.
