That doesn’t mean they can’t be tuned. I know this is a long travel thread but it’s not the alpha and omega to desert trucks. There’s a lot of talented people in SoCal that do some of the best shock tuning in the world and will let you pay them to tune your shocks. You think that dude would build something that couldn’t perform right?

If someone isn’t going to take the time to tune their own shocks on a $10k suspension setup or doesn’t pay another 10% of that to make sure it actually performs, they just bought property next to a guy that bought a new $45k truck and put a spacer lift on it.

I'll snap a picture of my non-existent steering stop - It's as far back as the instructions said to cut it. Maybe I need to do more?

    I'm here for the memes
Deaver 644/645 (light duty) and 539/540 (heavy duty) are recommended by archive garage and is possible to get 12-13 in of travel with those springs. That is with their hammer hangars as well. I believe some have gotten 14 in out of the kit, don't quote me because I am not too sure on that.

This isn't the Panama Canal - @desertjunkie760 even said it's a couple miles on named roads if you'd want to bypass it - sometimes it's fun to bs around. Sometimes rhyme and reason just goes out the window...

12-13" should be able to get that with 14" shocks no problems from all the reads I had, I believe its even possible with 12" if set up correctly but I'm not too sure on that.

I think there is always something that limits the other lol... no escape from that, more droop and you need two piece drive shaft upgrade and so on... but i'm pretty much just like you trying to always maximize everything even if you never use it to its full potential. Personally it feels safer and you don't push the equipment as hard when it's overbuilt... I'd stick with 14s man I think it's plenty

Peruse this forum and you will see many trucks with that kit in the desert hitting whoops and being jumped. This kit is literally designed for people that push their trucks hard - once again it's cool to bs and share opinions but when they don't come from a knowledgeable person it doesn't help anyone out. Cycling the suspension to get travel numbers is the way to make sure it's not being blindly pushed and over-drooped. A little more scientific approach.

Agree one must cycle and set it up so it's not maxed out causing issues. In fact shop is right in the middle of that right now its on and off the lift rack then back in the dirt back on the lift etc lol interesting cycle of trying to find a fine balance for it all to work together. Yes, the kit may be designed for being able to handle being pushed hard but there is nothing wrong with it being used for mild applications which I'm intending to use mine for, I don't beat up my gear nor I do something outrageous like jumping it especially being on a heavier side of things as many of you pointed out. Honestly If I wanted to go that route it's cheaper funner and safer to run CAN AM or Razor and have a blast in it.

I heard someone said that King has this thing once in a while where they tune/test their shocks free of charge at some sort of event every year or so... don't have any details just hear say maybe someone of you heard about it?

But you’re not pointing any of that out nor do you know how your info is going to be interpreted or how the dude intends on using his truck. I’m interested in hearing about is how your shop is getting your money. Cycling isn’t done with everything fully welded. They’re either not cycling in the way that most people use the word or you’re paying them to fully weld everything and keep taking it “back in the dirt.” I’m not talking about abusing equipment but also not making unfounded assumptions about things I have obviously zero experience with. I am all about overbuilding however I’m not about trying to convince people stuff can’t hang with what it was intended on being used for.

I would most likely spend the money ($600-$800) for a real session. That said it wouldn’t hurt if you got more performance for free - I’m not that stubborn lol.

I’m was talking about fine tunning stuff you know, checking for travel, droop limiting it etc etc. not an expert but I believe archive hangers and shock tower relocation pretty much is standard location there is small tollarnace I believe. Hangers are bolt on anyway but towers had to be welded obviously. It’s one thing when everyone clears and cycles on the rack and very different when it’s real world situation everyone knows this.

Hopefully the everyone you talk about aren't the people who know what they're doing when they do their cycling and fully weld - we're diverging though - I'm talking about stuff that I'm aware of isn't going to be obvious at first so no big "whoop". Get some good shots of you enjoying your equipment and put them up. Clean build man.

I’m not sure what you mean by that but Im sure you know what your talking about lol. Just told you what the process looked like so far never said shop fully welded anything or just bolted everything up and went driving. Not sure where you’re getting that from.

We were talking about the DMZ kit which is fully welded on the frame.
