Presumably an easy upgrade. Anything special I need to know? Just unscrew old and screw on the new? Special threads or anything?

You need a new way to mount the shift boot. I used a shift boot retainer ring and a zip tie on the inside: IMG_20180408_112816.jpg

Yup. You'll need something to retain the boot if you swap out the knob because that little chrome collar is the retainer. The one I have is a mustang-compatible retainer off eBay (literally dozens of options) and it works great. Threads down the shifter and acts as the jam nut for the knob with a channel to ziptie the boot in place.
