Information regarding the new State Park near Kitzmiller, MD has now officially been posted. The new park will officially be called Wolf Den Run State Park.

More information can be found on the Maryland DNR website here and on the Maryland OHV Alliance page here.

Please take a few minutes to complete a survey being conducted by the Maryland DNR and make sure they know that there is lots of interest in having full-sized trails be a part of the trail system at the new park.

You can go to the survey here!

There's definitely options out there. I think the main difference is that this is a State Park and will therefore receive state funding whereas Rausch is a privately owned business. It's still in its infancy stages and supporting this effort can open up more options for us.

The census population in 2010 was 321. That is a small town!

    its a secret.

no, really its just atv trails that have been used for decades. I know people that ride up there, but i have never been up personally. Not much for trucks as of now, as far as i know

I’m also more biased that most people filling out the survey....i like single track but i understand its the least profitable trail option. Because you can fit bikes on any sized trail...so bigger trails are better because they cover more options.

So despite my urges to lean towards my motorcyclist tendencies, i leaned towards full size trails

Thank you and yes I agree. If they built trails to accommodate more vehicle options, then there is a better chance of collecting enough funds from the general public in order to keep the park maintained.

Based on the feedback from our local 4x4 club president, the MD OHV Alliance pointed out that the Maryland DNR is receiving roughly $750,000 annually from ORV registration for trail construction and maintenance, so MDOHVA is going to push for free or low cost admission for park access. Hopefully MD DNR isn't looking at this as an opportunity to increase their revenue for the agency. They are hosting an 'open house' on the 20th of October. My guess is this is some sort of town hall where interested parties can voice their opinion on the matter.

yeah, i think they really dropped the ball with the Saint John's Rock "Trail" making the trails only be for ATVs and motorcycles with ORV stickers....then they put in a "rock garden" barely big enough for a truck or jeep....
