Falkens on Amazon

Amazon is so fickle. Yesterday I saw the 165/65/17 for $143. Now today I see the 70 for $143, and the 65 is back up to $170. I was leaning stock size.

Amazon lowers the price on items the very first time you look at something on their site and keep it that price for an unspecified amount of time. Then raise the price to normal shortly afterward. My suggestion would be to use a different web source to view amazon items that you are considering and then buy it later on a different device / internet connection / account. Admittedly I don't know what of those three things they track but I avoid all three and typically get to purchase things at the initial price they quote. Also I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND going through discount tires/ americas tires. The Falken wildpeak has been known to have issues and while I have the tire and think its great many people do not share my good fortune in getting a perfectly good set. Going through discount tire would mean you would get a higher level of purchaser protection than from amazon. I got mine through Americas tire and they have always been helpful and reliable.

+1 to the discount tire guys- they did my set and I was very pleased with pricing and turnaround.

I made a point to specify no impact guns to torques the wheels back on and they were happy to oblige.

 

I just bought some 265/75r16 Wildpeak A/T3W for Discount Tire Direct. They price matched Walmart, so I got them for $117 each. Getting them installed by Discount as we speak!

 

For what reason would one want to use a torque wrench instead of impact?

 

Impacts ding up wheels and swell the lugs. Not to mention stretch the threads on the hub also.

 

Gunning them down does not ensure proper torque specs for this or any vehicle.

I don't trust the impacts to get the torque right. For removal, that's fine. Cinching down and final torques, no way.

 

I happily bought my Falken Wildpeaks at discount tire here in Seattle and got the 10% discount last weekend. There was an issue with bolts and sensors that they are fixing this weekend. Would recommend them.

 

They look really nice, i dig your truck.
