Light Bar in hood scoop

Put the same one in as you did using your technique (3M double sided tape and foam insulation tape to fill in). It’s solid. I hooked up the remote and wired it to an OEM looking light bar switch. Both work. It’s bright!
While I was running wire, I decided to add a LED hood light with a pin switch (comes on when I open the hood, off when it’s closed). Hid all my wiring.

 

Looking to add this to my truck but wanted a more “stealth” looking light bar. I saw this slim light bar but it measures 20”. I know everyone’s throwing in a 17” but my question is: will a 20” fit with some slight modifications maybe? It’s 19.75” according to specs.

No doubt His stuff is awesome! As well as his communication with customers through the IG BUT I’m Just not looking to spend the big bucks on a scoop light set up. A $45 bar with some 3M will function great and give me everything I want in a scoop light.

 

I had been doing some searching with the part # TUR-CXD-SR-80W-RMW-1P-NOV (the same as OP's post got the # on Amazon).
I found it for $40.00 on fleabay and also found quite a few that are similar and affordable.

Not sure if I want a remote or switch or even if the switch will fit the dash.

There are quit a few more and will check them out later.

No bolts or brackets needed according to the original poster on page one.

They fit snug and using double stickey tape are secured. You should check out the first post, the OP gave all the info needed or read the whole thread there is a lot of good info from everyone.

 

I did the required reading before asking LOL. I just don't think I like the idea of using tape to keep it in place. Was hoping someone would chime ini that has used some type of bracket.

 

Oh, mine should be here Saturday shipping is slow. I was going to try to make a mount of some sort out of the 2 sets of brackets supplied with the kit. I will post up some pics of the install, hopefully I will be able to get to it this weekend.

Think I'm gonna try this one out also. I've heard of some issues with this switch & don't really like the rocker style but can always just get a different switch for $20 or less

 

I put mine in in April. It’s tight in there and hasn’t moved. I used a different switch in the interior, plus have the remote- both work.
I work nights till 3am, so I use it a lot on my way home. It lights up dark roads better than the brights. I like it!

 

mine is bolted in place. No 2sided tape. Bought from Amazon as a kit, did not use there switch/relay had my own 6 switch panel.

I got the eBay one ordered & I kinda like the remote but didn't get that one. I drive a few very dark roads with a lot of deer so I sold the idea to the wife that I needa scoop light! I have deer whistlers hidden behind my side mirrors & that seems to help a lot also!

I am with you concerning the wife. Ironically I have done a lot of mods since buying the truck may 20th and she hasn't even noticed most of them. And I don't care if she does.

 

Let us know how this one is. If it seems pretty good, I might snag one myself.

 

Before I did anything I tested it for over an hour while I installed my new grill, the light and relay switch only got slightly warm.


I tried using the small mounting brackets but the bolt heads would not fit so I just ended up using double sided 3M tape the full length of the light. This light fits very snugly in that box and the tape just keeps it from sliding side to side.





You will have to notch a 1/2 inch wide slot at 1 inch deep for the wire, I just used a hacksaw and pliers then filed the burrs off. You need to notch it deep enough so that the wire will clear the sheet metal.



Assembled.


Install finished.




Summary:
I noticed that the ones on fleabay are longer than the one on Amaz0n sold by iJDMTOY there are only 12 reflectors in iJDMTOY's for $108.00 where as the fleabay ones have 17 reflectors and you can get them for $34.00. The reason that you can use the brackets on the more expensive one is because it's shorter.
Go back through this thread and you can see the difference's in length on the ones that are lit up.

These fit very well in our scoops with only about 1/32in. of play and 1/4in. of play side to side so I am convinced that double sided 3M tape will keep it from sliding side to side.

 

I got this one off eBay with the rocker switch that someone posted the link to. On the directions it says that a remote can be added.

Does the remote reciever plug into white connector where the switch plugs into the harness?
