Hello from Northeast Ohio everyone. July 1st I bought a new 19 off road auto tacoma and reluctantly traded in my 07 FJ which I've driven the past four years. Although I liked that vehicle a great deal, I wanted a bed and back doors that open normally.

My dad bought a bare bones manual tacoma in 82' and we've been driving them ever since. My 19' truck has not proven as trusty as the 82'. So far I've had it back to the dealer for a new left axle and they are putting a new right axle in next week. Feeling pulsation when driving and braking almost from the first miles I drove it. Not very promising.

Don't like the tranny shifting yet either. It's very rough. I've put 3K on it so far and I think I'm going to try to get the dealer to do the software TSB upgrade for the tranny, although I have no idea what that means or if it's even possible to do. Any help info-wise on that would be appreciated.

I've been visiting the forum for a year now and have found it very helpful, so I figured I should just join. Thanks everyone!
    Mike

Welcome. I’m sure you meant a pick up in 82 since the Tacoma didn’t exist then.

Yes, I mis-spoke. It was a tough little truck and it ran a long time. I looked like the hilux.

My first truck was a 82 sr5 4wd. Put 500k on it. It was a great truck.

I'm from Ravenna which is the next town east of Kent State University. I see you too have a 3rd gen tacoma. Have you had any pulsation happening in the back axles?

Good old Ravenna in Portage County! Spent lots of time in Randolph and Suffield as a kid, and went to Ravenna often as well.

I’ve not had any pulsation from the rear axle at all. I do occasionally have a minor rear end “thunk”, but my ‘06 did the same thing. Never had any issues because of it.

Rob, I'm taking my truck back to the dealer again tomorrow for a new right back axle and all the fixings. They did the left one two weeks ago and it helped but I still feel pulsation always when I apply the brakes and sometimes when I'm just rolling. I don't know why they didn't do both axles at once, but I hope this fixes it.

We all need a home and it's good when you can say your home is where you hail from. That unscratchable wanderlust itch is maybe birthed when those two things don't match up.
