Anyone have a Smittybuilt Overlander XL on a shortbed?

Looking to add a RTT to my 2016 DCSB. I was curious if anyone has gone with a smittybuilt xl on a higher rack or bars and put it a little over the cab and even with the tailgate. I did see another thread where the person had it hanging past the tailgate but I was thinking that would stress the part of the tent hanging that far out. I had a deal lined up on an ARB simpson 3 for $500 used but couldn't pull the trigger.
