    No problem. Happy to help.

BTW, attached is a PDF of the torque specifications for the transmission pan (and others).

Thanks! I was just looking at that. They use different terms. I'm assuming "oil strainer x valve body" is the bolts that attach the filter and "oil pan x transmission" are the pan bolts?

Correct. Strainer is the filter, and oil pan is the pan itself.

I'm having a slight problem when I use the index to access the different sections of the service manual. If I'm on a page and it references a different page for something, the hyperlink is there for the other page but when I click on it I just get brought to the top of the section that I was already in. Is there a way to get this to bring you to the section that it is actually referencing?

    Working on it!
Anyone know if there are differences between the '03 and '04 wiring, in general as well as specifically for the taillights and power door locks? I'm installing a Pop N Lock and a backup camera, trying to figure out where I want to tap into the harness.

Huge thanks to those who post these FSM links.

Read about the manuals being NLA due to restrictions.

Is there consensus on the best service manual? I don't mind buying a paperback one.

    For a 2000 Tacoma. Thanks

Dealers haven’t used the paper manuals in years, everything is digital now through TIS, or Toyota Information System. You can actually pay a small fee and access it, then download whatever diagrams or instructions you need.

From what I've read, paper was last used in 2011. I may have posted the following further up. Will post again.

Here's a site where you can download from. There are 2 versions:

    - Online Version
    - Full FSM File Download

The Online Version no longer seems to work; the Download does. Once you get it down to your machine you can unzip it. Scroll thru the list and select what's most applicable to you:

For any other frustrated '01 5vz owners, I was actually able to find what I needed through the link in post #155 & using the '95-'97 manual. It just opened (well, took a minute being 1623 pages.), no zip download prompt. So I'm not too sure whether downloading is an option for some it since it's not a zip, but it's there. Also I recall whenever Tim works on his 4Runner in a vid, it seems similar to the 5vz. It's referenced on the linked site as a 5fe though. Worth taking a look at just in case....

Also this one has some hit or miss files http://www.markofshame.com/fsm/01_Tacoma/Seperates/Service manual/
    & there's this http://markofshame.com/fsm/01_Tacoma/01 Tacoma Service Manual.pdf, however unfortunately it's missing half-ish of it. States it's 523 pages, yet there are 271.

Best place is a local scrap yard or flebay.

    Check car-part.com for local places.
