So my truck has 9.5k miles and I got a puncture that couldn't be repaired. I took it to Discount Tire, who have been great for me over the last 12 years. I was going to have them put my spare on my rear wheel, and the new tire on the rear as well. Then the older rear on the spare, just so the rear tires were even.

Well... they forgot to do that part, just put the spare back on without swapping it. Then my TPMS light wouldn't go away and it's showing no pressure for any of the tires. I looked at the valve cap and noticed it was a different color, and then I noticed the valve stem looked a tad different than OEM.

Is there something about replacing the TPMS when replacing a tire that I don't know about? I've tried resetting it a couple times and have drove 20+ miles.

Ask them to put your old TPMS in the new tires.

Check the air in the spare. Does the rear have a rubber valve stem? A new tech could have busted the TPMS dismounting the old tire

It's definitely a new stem. The milling around the stem isn't smooth, but has serations and the valve cap is a gray plastic.

They may have broke TPMS and replaced it with a regular valve stem. Want be first time. I would have them check it.

Where I live, if Discount Tire receives a vehicle with a working TPMS, it has to leave with a working TPMS (at least that is what one of their managers told me). They broke one of mine before and they replaced at no cost.

Take it back and have it corrected. I honestly wouldn’t have left until they did the job right.
