you have the 3.4 correct.. i know the 2.7s are bad about cracking exhaust manifolds. when my 2.7 1st started to crack it would tick for a few seconds untill the manifold heated up and the crack closed.. i know the 3.4s are not know for cracked manifold but it would be worth a check.

Yes I do...I know I said this noise isn't engine related but now I'm second guessing myself  u have a good point...it very well could be an exhaust manifold leak...I have to isolate the noise...maybe shifting down to second when the tick happens to see if it slows down or not...

if you try down shifting the over all egine noise will probaly muffle the noise your looking for. if you can get the heat shields off (or just look around them the best you can) the crack will be a black line. .. atleast thats what mine looked like when it started. atleast it would be a good excuse to get headers:D

Correction...It was the front U-Joint that was making the noise...Got a new one installed...parts/labour for under $100 :D

I have a weird ticking as well...it sounds like it's coming from the drivers side. It happense more at high speeds. It's kind of a random ticking. Almost like a creaking/rubbing sound perhaps.
