A Google search of the web and this forum didn’t yield any useful information on how to install a kill switch to disable your 2016-2019 Tacoma (push start). I’d like to avoid as much as possible cutting up the factory wiring harness. Anyone know how to get this done? I’ve poked around in my engine bay fuse box and found that the INJ fuse was a great circuit to interrupt to prevent the truck from starting even with a proximity key or with a hacking tool to simulate having the key fob. The Tacoma needs that circuit to start the engine. Disabling the EFI fuse circuit however was a disaster. The engine still started but I had difficulty clearing the CEL fault. The light eventually went off after clearing it with the scan tool. Any better idea or method would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

I’m pretty sure OP wants to prevent the truck from starting normally :notsure:

It’s always best to not tap into any of the engine management circuits as all it takes is one shitty connection and you’ll be buying a new ecu. Don’t want the vehicle to start be better off tapping the starter solenoid circuit.

Proximity key vehicles are extremely vulnerable to being remote unlocked and started with a laptop or tablet (by cloning your key fob frequency). I realize a kill switch isn’t the end all Ft. Knox security but it will slow down or frustrate theft drive off attempt. I just need that extra few seconds so that there’s enough time to neutralize the threat. Other year or model vehicles have procedures in forums but this generation of Tacoma has nearly zero content on this subject.

The Club does nothing to immobilize a vehicle and is easily removed. It’s as useless as the steering and Park shift lock built into cars. I’m trying to make it difficult or at least require a little extra time for me to be able to hear the attempts at cranking so that the would be thief can be confronted or frustrated enough to move on to an easier target. Otherwise this push button vehicle could be unlocked, started, and driven off in 2 seconds. If no one knows how to do this type of mod that’s fine.

I remember seem something on ChrisFix, about having a kill switch that prevents the fuel pump from running.
Would that be applicable to PTS vehicles?

I think if I could find the recommended method for disrupting the fuel pump circuit this might serve my need. I tried disabling the EFI but that threw a code and lit up my CEL light and the middle display complained about low voltage faults. I had to clear it with the scan tool.
