Just got a 2014 Tacoma crew cab 4x4. It has 158,000 miles. But I got it for a decent deal and added extra warranty coverage for things I expect will need work.
Any suggestions on things I should check? It’s been maintained well. What about timing chain? Diff fluid? Trans flush?

As a precautionary measure I’d suggest changing your basic fluids such as the engine and transmission oil, draining your front and rear diff and adding new fluid in. Then do a checkup of your brakes and belts to make sure they aren’t worn down and need replacing. Your timing chain is fine, it won’t need replacing unless it’s broken. The only thing related to the chain I can think of that’ll need changing is the chain guide but I wouldn’t expect that for at least another 100k or longer. Check your hoses and your undercarriage for any possible leaks and check your brake fluid reservoir. Quick little things that come to mind when buying a used car with a decent amount of miles. You got a solid truck though I wouldn’t worry about any major issues with it for a long time. Welcome!

    Awesome.
Thanks for the welcome and info!
Belts and brakes are new and engine oil and air filter just changed. I’ll change the other fluids soon.
I agree this truck seems pretty solid after driving a 2006 Isuzu i350 4x4 for the last 6 years. Not piece on that truck I haven’t had to put my hands on in some way haha.
