I went out off-roading yesterday. There was one noticeable hit but I found the mark on the back-passenger side of the front skid plate. Today after driving to work I noticed this grease on the outside of my driver door. I looked underneath and didn't see any grease on any of the components around this tire. Should I be worried? Should I check for anything in particular? Thanks all.

Double check the CV as stated

The CV is the accordion looking black part located on the back side of the tire

Whatever that is would be extremely viscous. So look for something that is super thick to start with.

Ok, I'll check right now. Anything I should look for in particular? Besides just obvious grease leaking.

I think you will see a torn CV boot pretty quick.

Turn the wheel completely to the right. It makes it easier to see the CV joint.

This may seem a bit obvious, but did you smell it to see if it was grease smell. Could just be tar or scat. :) Also if it was CV, look for grease scatter all over the inside of the rim. The CV boot would have a substantial tear.

The CV boot looks totally fine to me. There is no other grease that I can find anywhere inside the rim or surrounding area. I'm starting to think I'm just paranoid.

Sure you didn't rip off and melt one of your mud guards?? Did you have mud guards and are you now missing any??

I ripped one off on a hill climb, then my tire like melted part of it and thew up a little something that looked kinda like this.

    Feel it. Smell it.

    Is it grease or tar?

It wasn't lol, I kinda misread your post now see you had a hit on your skid plate.

If you don't see anything obvious and no symptoms I think these could just be unrelated. Took a hit on the skid and separately picked up some road tar/grime/grease.

I'd think anything coming from the actual truck in a quantity enough to be getting sprayed on the side of your truck would leave other obvious clues to source.
