Been commuting in the truck for 2 weeks now. Here’s how I’m doing so far. I got 380 miles to my last tank. I’m pretty happy with the results

The 285s go on tomorrow. I’m curious to see how many MPGs I loose

Fixed my squeaking fan motor per the thread below.

All I did was remove the blower unit > removed the black cover on the bottom of the unit > put a drop of air tool oil on the bearing/ shaft > spun it a few times by hand > reinstalled it and enjoy the quiet low speed settings

I’ll update this if it comes back

Got bored after mowing today so I started paint prep and body work on my replacement panels. Everything is prepped except my drivers fender.

All rock chips were primered then all the panels were scuffed with 600 grit. I still need to wipe everything down with wax and grease remover. All these panels were OEM from a silver truck. All the paint was pretty good so I’m not primering them

Any other advice for a noob? I got all my paint, supplies and paint gun from Napa.

    Any advice is appreciated!

    Paint update....

Got everything sprayed. It all went on smooth. Only issue is THE PAINT DOESNT MATCH! Looks like they mixed the wrong color flake into the paint :(

The flare should help a little

I still need to get the door repaired. I think I’ll have a body shop take over from here.

    It was a good lesson....

I couldn’t leave it alone.... scuffed up the fender again and did a little blending. It looks a tab bit better. I also found a mint set of OEM MGM flares so I put a new one on the drivers side (lower section I painted)

    I’ve got a few updates....

First, I scored at the wrecking yard!!!
I found an OEM fender with flare in MGM. No damage and they gave it to me for 145$$!

Second, I finally got around to installing my TRS LED fogs. I love these things... one of my favorite mods. I highly recommend them if you’re in the market for fogs.

Lastly, I picked these projector headlights from a local guy. I got them for 100$ and the guy through in a set of ROUGH stock oem headlights. I ordered a HID kit from TRS and figured I’d run with it until TRS has some H1 projectors in their clearance section to retrofit the OEM headlights

It doesn’t get dark here in Alaska for another month or so and I’m to embarrassed to post up a output shot. The output isn’t bad the cutoffs is crooked. I might be able to adjust them straight, who knows.

Finally getting around to getting the sliders on. I had to go get new grade 8 bolts and make some new back plates.

Haven’t done much to the truck other than drive it. I’ve put right at 10k on it since I got it back on the road in June.

The truck developed a nice hum about a month ago so I replaced both wheel bearings.

Pretty sure the drivers side was shot....

I got a new lift on the front of my Tacoma today. It’s a 2.5-3” OME lift from a 2016 4Runner. The fronts are OME coilovers with 885 springs. I got the rear shocks also and need to swap them, OME part# 60080. I had to grind about 1/16” off the lower mounts to fit them into the LCA mounts. Other than that it was smooth sailing.

They are replacing my Bilsteins with stock coils set on the top notch. It rides quite a bit better but I noticed it has more body roll in corners. I might have to put the sway bar back in.

Looks like I’ll be driving back into my leafs again. Someone in a local FB page posted these Deaver AALs for free so i picked them up. I hope they are softer than the bastard pack I put together.
