I kind of get these but cant you just get a two man tent that will fit in the bed?
...and what's so bad about camping on the ground?

As much as I think that the rtt's look cool I just think they're a huge waste of money (2k+ for a tent) and mpg if you're not camping every weekend...and you cant move your truck without breaking it down.

Almost everyone is going to end up back in ground tents once they get sick of their moldy RTTS sucking their MPGs down, destroying their center of gravity, and ruining the utility of their truck bed. I have a few buddies who always laugh and say they only set up their RTTs for Instagram pics, but lately I’m noticing they are actually serious about that.

Ground tents are great, and the latest designs are fantastic. So much more versatile, less cumbersome, and less expensive.
