I want to build a slip roll. Or a sheet metal roller. A lot of new ones are pretty expensive and I'd rather just go through the experience of making it myself so I can scale it up as time goes if I need to, without spending 1000s on literally a few bearings, gears, steel shafts/tubes, and a couple really thick plates. I attached a gearing example I found to demonstrate the rough idea of what I'm trying to make.

Basically I'm wondering if any of you have experience on any cars that may have good cam gears, maybe even ball bearing assemblies (not as common on cars as small engines and etc, I know).

I'm a decent welder (TIG/MIG) so any recommendations are welcome (there's always a way to make it fit lol).

So far I have a bunch of 1" shaft heavy duty pillow ball bearings laying around that I will probably use for the actual shafts. The pillow ball bearings have a large foot print when it comes to mounting, but worst case scenario I could always mount them sideways or cut their feet and weld them or mount them not parallel to each other, but more like sequentially to aid with clearance.
