I'm new here, but I've been lurking for a few weeks. Been considering a new TRD OR DCSB in MGM 6-MT. Some of the posts I've read here have more or less convinced me to pull the trigger.

I've wanted a Toyota truck since I was 6. I remember my uncle had an 89 PU SR5 turbo that I loved. I wanted him to take me for rides in it all the time. When I was about 9, I was walking down the street and saw a Tacoma 4x4. I had probably seen them before, but this is the first time I remember registering what a Tacoma was, and how cool I thought it was. In high school I drove my Dad's 89 Toyota PU 5 speed. If I hadn't let that thing get away, it would be parked in front of my house today. I've finally reached a financial point where I feel comfortable jumping on a new Tacoma. I'm pretty excited about it. I'm in the process of negotiating with the dealer, and I want to ask a few questions if you all don't mind.
    1. I think the 4R TRD pro 17" wheels with 265/70/17 BFG KO2 setup looks wicked, especially on a MGM truck. I'm probably keeping the suspension stock (for now). Are there any modifications required to prevent rubbing for this tire size on a stock ride height? Has anyone had any issues with quickness off the line with a slightly larger tire?
    2. I'm thinking of having the dealer install the TRD performance exhaust. Does anyone have any experience with this? Are there any reasonable performance improvements, or is it mostly just sound?
    Thanks all

    Welcome!

TRD exhaust didn't provide anything but a deeper tone.

    Proud owner!

I'll probably keep it mostly stock for now. It seems a little overzealous to spend thousands on upgrades when I probably haven't yet developed the skills to take advantage of the upgrades. Kinda makes me think of the cubicle warrior who buys a $10k road bike and decks himself out head to toe like he's in the tour de France, and then rides 5 miles around his neighborhood at a leisurely pace. As I understand it, a stock trd OR with upgraded tires, a 6mt, and a little skill could be quite capable.
