Just curious, if anyone who bought their truck used from a dealer changes their oil right away even though they tell you they just did a full service on it before putting it on the lot.

Or hypothetically, if you haven’t bought a used vehicle from a dealer?

I always ask. I did when I purchased mine a month ago. Most dealerships will change the oil as they inspect the vehicle before selling.

Check the dipstick. Oil should be clean and the level correct if they just serviced it.

Certified? The oil change will be on the check list.

Check it, good color & correct level? Should be good if documented on their make ready sheet.

That said, I just got a Toyota certified used Prius that had some obviously overlooked items on their make ready sheet. Funny thing is when negotiating, they brought it out & told me hybrids go through a much more extensive process. I asked them if they thought a tech ever just checks all these boxes in a hurry to get done. They laughed & said no & then I found like 3-4 obviously missed items in the first few days of ownership.
Shit just ain't the same as it used to be, but I'm quickly becoming that old man who shakes his fist at speeding cars in my neighborhood too..
    Double check the important stuff.

If they want to sell a truck, they will do the oil change and things needed or you can just walk. They will run you down or call you back if they have your number.

I changed mine right away. What came out looked very new, so I think the dealer did change it. It's worth the $30 to know what oil and filter are in there.

You gotta take care of yourself and your truck. Change the oil and then break out your fine tooth comb.
