I always take my dog on hiking trips/camping trips. We were on an 8 mile hike when my dog stepped on a piece of broken glass. He couldn't put any weight on it and we were 4 miles from the trail head. He's 75lbs and I wasn't going to be able to carry him in my arms the whole way. Luckily a park ranger came by and gave us a ride in his ATV back to the trail head. If I had that product and the park ranger wasn't there, I would have been able to carry my dog on my back. Anyone who takes their dog on adventures with them might want to consider something like this, because shit can happen and your dog can get injured be in the most obscure ways.

Yes the eastern side. We started in Bishop and climbed up above 10,000 ft. It’s a very beautiful drive. Amazing plateaus with panoramic views.

    Nice looking pups btw!

Ok...see? That is why I asked. I hope your dog wasn’t too severely hurt. I can see your dilemma.

Our lab always wore “shoes”, when we went on adventures. The current psycho won’t adhere to humans attempts to assimilate to our practices...so she doesn’t get the freedom allowed to previous family dogs.
Previously mentioned psycho jumping in honeysuckle plant looking for BALL! Approximately 5 feet off the ground. I love this crazy kid

He wasn't hurt too badly. His bandages are already off and he's ready to go back to the mountains. This is my boy Buck, the German Shepherd, Rottweiler, Pitbull mix

I do. I have a male malamute German Shepard mix. I ski tour, meaning I hike up and ski down in the backcountry. Its great exercise for him. He gets to sprint in deep powder for hours on end. A dog like yours is designed for this kind of activity. I wouldn't be so quick to shun it. We see many people in Colorado skiing with their dogs (myself included). Its a nice community. He doesn't need a leash, because he is well trained, but he does like to run close, which scares me from time to time. I have my backpack setup to carry him if he gets injured (ski cut, broken leg, etc). The best part is he gets all the running in on soft snow, so its easy on his joints.
