Hey Tacomaworld, so over the past year or so I have been having some drivetrain issues and I wanted to see if anyone could help me diagnose where it is coming from. I was getting some vibrations while accelerating from a stop, while also having a small "bump" when stopping and accelerating abruptly. I took my truck into my local mechanic and he replaced my u-joint because it had some play in it. This fixed these issues for about 2500 miles but the symptoms came back. I have read all about axel wrap and of recently, I had my OEM leaf springs replaced for OME Dakar leafs but this didn't do much besides give a smoother ride in the rear. Anyways, If anyone has any suggestions of where these issues may be coming from in my drivetrain it would be much appreciated! thanks

Check your carrier bearing. Also when I switched to Dakar leafs my axle wrap was worse than with OEM.

Could be the drive shaft is out of balance, angles are off, axle wrap, bad center support bearing, bad transmission mount. Lifted or not?

OD stutter + late downshift thunk when stopping = service your transmission.
Check for leaks. I had a small leak at the output seal and wasn't running full on fluid and these were my symptoms.

All above and check VIN to see if you had a trans software recall for reprogram to solve/help that bump when stopped or maybe only AC kicking in stepping idle up. I went to 1 piece driveshaft with my Dakars to get away from that POS 2 piece and all the issues. Good luck.

Back when I first got my truck (2006 TRDORv6) at 40k, it started to stay in neutral when I came to a stop and would kick into gear after it revved. I took it to the dealer and they had, at the time, a new fill procedure that overfilled the tranny and gave it more pressure, and the problem went away. Now, maybe they flashed it too? Because I just had my tranny fluid changed and didnt tell him about overfilling, and have absolutely no issues. Havent had that problem since when the dealer took care of it.

You sound like you have multiple issues. I had the issue with bad U-joints, luckily it was covered under a 10 year expansion on the original driveline warranty and i got all 4 replaced for free. The new U-joints did not fix the hard acceleration vibration, but it did get rid of a strange resonance that would come and go between 60mph-85mph.

The ghost bump, sounds deffinitly like the common problem with the earlier year 2nd gens transmissions. I would service, drain and fill, and add a bottle of lube guard as a good precaution. I myself have had ghost bump, along with other issues, with my 08 and have read alot into @gearcruncher 's transmission thread.

Vibrations on accel, I also have this, is more than likely driveline angle, Axle wrap, have the pinion angle checked on a flat surface with a normal load in the truck, when you accelerate, the pinion rotates and kicks up and causes some bind on the driveline due to excessive driveline angles, a new carrier bearing or even a carrier bearing drop kit may alleviate issues with driveline angles.

Did your new springs come with any degree shims?
