    Hi Everyone,

    I have had my eye on a Tacoma for the last year or so. Cant afford a new one or even a 2nd Gen. Boy do these hold their value!
    I came across a 1st Gen. on Craigslist for a 2002 for $12,500 with 107,000 miles on it from Washington State. The entire truck is very clean, even the frame. Everything works; Locker, ECT, OD, A/C....etc. It drives straight and feels pretty tight with the exception of a slight wobble/shimmy in the rear when hitting a bump. Shocks maybe?

    Anyway, I got him down to $11,000.
    I hope I made a good decision on this, so feel free to let me know - good or bad.

    Edit;
    I live in Minnesota. Any good suggestions on rust proofing for winter?

    Killer truck. For rust, I like spray-on rubberized paint. I use this, and touch it up every fall, takes 10min. https://smile.amazon.com/Rust-Oleum...+spray+paint&qid=1563383987&s=gateway&sr=8-17

    I'd say that's a fair price considering the mileage, is it 4x4? If so then that's an even better deal, at least it would be for out here in CA.

    Regarding the wobble, it's safe to assume that the suspension probably needs to be refreshed if it's still original. 100k miles isn't "a lot" for the stock suspension but it's not a little either, and combined with it's age I think it would be good to start there.

    Also, check your tire pressure...the back end of these trucks is very light when not loaded and if the tires are over-inflated it can make it feel sketchy when you hit bumps in the road at speed.

    Yeah 4x4.
    Feeling sketchy when hitting bumps is probably the correct terminology. She'll move bit. Caught me by surprise the first time. I'll get it up on the lift this weekend or next and have a better look.

    Thanks!

    When I first got my truck a few years ago, the dealership had the tires inflated to just over 50 psi when they should be at ~35. I remember hitting bumps on the freeway and feeling like the back end was going to swing out from under me

    Hi pressure water does tend to wash it off. Recommended to apply at least once a year. I do mine in late October.

    1st Gen, 2nd Gen, 3rd Gen. You bought a Tacoma. That's always a good decision.
