    Hey ya'll,

I just recently got a new Taco. First new vehicle for me. I did buy my last truck new but my wife drove it for the first 5 years or so. That truck was also a Toy but it was nothing like the Taco. I feel like I've done a complete 180 as the last one had manual everything; windows, locks, steering, trans. Basically no amenities at all except for AC and I've been driving it for 20 years so that's what I'm used to.
Enter the new Taco. I still insisted on a manual transmission. I didn't know they were hard to find. The dealer said mine was the only one currently on the west coast. It's fairly loaded with more computers than a university library plus a moon-roof. Aie!
It's a far cry from the '94 pickup.
So far I'm liking it, a lot. I hope it lasts as well as they used to! Yeah, I'm nostalgic about the old pickup. I know, it shows. You might be too if you'd driven the same vehicle for 20+ years. I hope in time to love my new truck as I loved the old.

All right, all right! I get it! Here's a couple of the new beastie.:thumbsup:

Sorry folks, just figured a stock vehicle wouldn't be that interesting. I see I was wrong.

Good job on getting the MT. I bet your dealer lied to you about being the only MT on the west coast though.

Couldn't be! Car salesmen are noted for their honesty!

He said he checked up the coast and as far as AZ. Yeah, he could've lied, I know. I figure as long as I know it may be a lie I can compensate for it. I did try looking for a used taco w/MT without success so I know they're rare. I read an article on TFLtruck saying MT tacos account for only 5% of sales. Other sources confirmed the MT truck is a dying breed, get yours now. Kinda adds a little veritas to his claim so, maybe true. (although, if they have ~100 tacos on the lot shouldn't about 5 be MT)

I guess the bottom line is I wanted a MT, they had one, I bought it.

My local dealership which is small compared to most have about 50 Tacomas in stock. At least 3-4 are MT 4x4's.

Thank you, I'm learning to love the color too. No huge plans as yet, still reeling from new vehicle sticker shock. So far I've added a gate hinge lock, applied ceramic coating to the paint and ordered some after- market side steps. (My wife is pettitt) I've browsed the cheap mods thread. Nothing really jumped out as something I need. So, for now that's it. Undoubtedly something will catch my eye eventually.

I've never had a 4x4. Now I've got one and I'm intrigued with the possibility of heading offroad. I'm looking for a group in San Diego area that goes offroading and wouldn't mind a novice tagging along on an easy to moderately difficult ride.

I do woodturning as a hobby so I've been thinking about turning a custom stick shift knob. I was hoping that someone on this forum might be able to tell me where to get the inserts with the right thread. Maybe I need to start a thread thread. o_O

I meant to ask: what does the kit do to help with drivability? So far I'm not experiencing any difficulties other than the usual getting used to a new clutch. Gotta retrain my muscle memory. Hill assist freaked me out at first but even that stopped bothering me.
