    I have been having similar issues, except I have the csf radiator and 160 thermostat. ambient has been 111-115, IAT between 117-122 on the freeway doing over 60. starts at 194 and climbs to 203-206. really pissing me off. but if ambient is 95, My truck wont go over 188 even if you tried.

    Coolant looks great.
    What does the gauge show on the dash? Above the markings towards overheat? Right in the middle?

    I don't suppose the serpentine belt is slippng? If so your pump will not circulate coolant very well.

    Any time I have had overheating issues on any of my vehicles, I usually find that the thermostat is the issue. 9 times out of 10, replacing it solves the problem.

    Drive faster ;) or down shift for faster circulation with less engine load.

    Superchargers will also add more heat to the engine bay.

    If temp gets up there it should kick in even on highway. . Our delivery trucks on freeway going at 55 can hear clutch kicking in . Anyway hope you solve problem . Hate problems that are a pain in the ass . One of reasons took early retirement . Got sick doing it . But modding and stuffs a different story . :bikewheelie2:

    I ordered a new Toyota t-stat and it’ll be here Monday. Dash gauge stays just slightly above center and doesn’t move either way once the truck is warmed up.
    If all this doesn’t fix it, I’ll try a water pump but I’ve read most people say there’s looks new after 150K.

    I know it’s kicking in but it’s not really doing any good as the 65+ mph wind in front of the radiator is way more output than the fan could ever think of being.

    Disclaimer, read the first page and hopped to the end.

    It sounds completely normal IMO. I watch my UG religiously so I have a decent idea on normal engine temp.

    It can certainly get hotter with speed because the engine is working harder to maintain that.

    Coolant and new thermostat is a good idea anyways and very easy to do. For thermostat, you’ll need a 10mm on a u joint but that’s it. It’s seriously easy.

    BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
    Remove the weatherstrip at the base of the windshield to let heat escape

    Does the heat range stay within the "normal/grey" area on the gauge after ten minutes of running?
    206 degrees is not that hot and not an overheat.

    246 F might lead to an overheat.

    IMO you do not have an overheat situation. I.E. Your cooling system is running normally.

    206° isn't overheating but it is hot. Whether it's hotter than normal for a '12 Tacoma, I do not know. To me it seems to be a bit too hot but I could be wrong. I've spent a fortune on prior vehicles to lower my coolant temp by 10° & I will again w/this Taco. It's an OCD thing I think.

    Yesterday I:
    drained all 3 drains (left on block, right on block & radiator)
    filled the system w/ distilled H2O (it would only take a little less than 2 gallons, supposed to take almost 3)
    ran it for 15 minutes
    drained all 3 holes again (it came out very pink still from the rad.)
    replaced both rad. hoses, rad. cap & t-stat w/housing
    refilled w/<2 gallons of Zerex made for Toyotas
    ran for 30 minutes burping the system

    None of that really seems to have made a difference but we got a "cold" front here so the highs are only 88° & I haven't gone on a long highway drive.


    Would've only been about 1 hour worth of work but I dropped one of the nuts that hold the t-stat housing & couldn't figure out where it went for 30+ minutes searching. It first fell behind the fan pulley so I removed the belt, fan & pulley. Then it dropped again & I spent another 30+ minutes trying to find it. After searching & almost giving up, I decided to bump the motor over a couple times to see if it'd pop out somewhere. Well, after doing that I saw that the damn thing fell behind the crank pulley!!! Luckily, there's slots in that pulley & I didn't have to remove it. Took an extra hour+ due to dropping that damn nut.
