So about a week maybe two weeks ago, me and my fiancee was headed to work. Noticed unusual clacking sound. But stopped after a few mins of driving. When we got to the house we are remodeling we both noticed a burning rubber smell. I got the tuck from my boss who pulled up when I raised the hood and my fiancee was looking for the problem. Boss said it's most likely the belt I got a hog in that truck and have to replace the belt about twice a year...said one of the idler pulley has been outta whack ever since..so we dropped the hood and went to work. 2 days ago I let my boss borrow the truck had gotten to go the day before and wasn't felling good. He calls me said the a/c an and the alternator belts had broken.. he replace the alternator belt thank God for the spare he kept in the truck. Well today there was no power steering when I backed the little trailer in my backyard. we looked at it and noticed belt was a little loose. I let the boss tighten it up I cranked it and was listening to it when the belts looked like they slowed down then oil came rusing out bottom side of engine.. looked like crankshaft area. Kills engine immediately. Started to take a look and noticed crankshaft pulley not inline. Crankshaft bolt was loose. Go it tightened up. Had to remove radiator to the this with impact. Got it back together put fluids in now won't crank...won't start at all no cough.nothing but engine does turn over.. no leaks. What do I do now???

There's a crank sensor that coyld be damaged or tining belt jump.

Pull the timing covers and check belt timing.
    Or do a compression test.

I'm guessing you are out of timing.

Sounds like you have to reset timing marks. Might as well do the timing chain and tensioner. FSM will show you how it’s done. It’s a little time consuming . But while your at it you may want to replace a few seals ( crankshaft&camshaft) and water pump. If they haven’t been done. I usually tell customers to do the oil pump while I got half the truck apart. It’s basically a mini overhaul. The job is pretty easy but time consuming.

You don't have a chain, you have a belt. A belt shouldn't have oil in it's compartment. You will have to tear in as far as the front seals to see why oil made it out that far so maybe you can determine why the balancer bolt came loose.

I'm not understanding who's truck this is so I don't know if it's worth asking who's been working on it.

There is a sticky above for taking apart timing components and I see a thread going right now for front seal.

edit: ok, I see you bought from boss. Did he work on it? Now I see, I got confused who put a hog in it.

The key in crankshaft may have broken from having the pulley loose which could throw off the timing gear and crank position sensor.

    if a 2.4 it does.

OK then never mind any advise on seals or timing belt.

So after getting tools together, and cooling down after a hot day at work. I took my poor sad little O÷ Box of junk tools out side(all my decent tools are at jobsite) and got under there with socket in hand to realize I needed a Phillips head to get oil pump cover off. So I do and find some decent DeWalt tips , 1/4 in socket ,hammer, and 3/8 wrench for the oil pump cover bolts.. got all but 2 I have bolt extractor. Bet you can't guess where it's at??? So now gotta wait til tomorrow to get them out. But I did get a few pics ..

Here's a post I made 4 years ago about those oil pump cover screws from this thread:
3RZ oil leak behind crankshaft pulley...anyone?

The replacement screws I used were from this page at boltdepot.

Better replacements are available at places like Fastenal also. I had to buy a whole box though but was still cheaper than replacement from whatever I needed.

Those little allen head replacemnts are actually pretty handy to have around, common substitute for lots of household things. I remember bed frames right off hand.
