    hi.

I just got a 2009 Tacoma automatic that was store outside for a full years. After swapping the battery for a new one, it start without hesitation. But the shifter was stuck in park, and yes the break switch work wheel. After some back and fort movement a manage to put it on neutral for the towing guy.

Now, i think the shifter control cable is not jam, is it possible that the shift level on the transmission itself is lock do to the year without moving.

i dont want to force the transmission shifter level (on the trans) anymore.

    what i do next.

Down at the transmission, disconnect the end of the shift linkage from the lever.

-Check to see if the lever moves freely

-Check to see if the cable moves freely

This will tell you if you have a linkage/cable problem or an internal transmission problem
