When I was up there in February it looked like there were a lot of trail options near Kings Beach, but unfortunately at that time early in the year there was so much snow you couldn't go off the main roads. Like several foot walls of it lol.

The peak of the 267 has a calm trail before you drop back down towards NorthStar as well.

I don't know the snow status up there but Genoa peak on the east side of the lake is good trail.. I wanna say it was 11 miles or so good way to kill a few hours. Also in south lake near Sawmill Lake there is a small trail. Check out alltrails.com and search the area. I may be up there over the weekend. Hit me up and I might be down to go somewhere with you.

Never taken it, but I pulled the Mount Watson route out of one of those California offroad guidebooks and threw it into Gaia in case I'm over that way looking for a trail: https://www.gaiagps.com/public/yAdStXWbWJimzpkLvTxU7bj1

They say it's mostly a 2/10 for difficulty (graded fire road, easy, no 4WD necessary), but the part right out of Tahoe City is more of a 3/10 and may require 4WD due to being a little loose and steep - still pretty easy. Someone who has been there can probably give you better/more up to date info.

Also, as a dude who almost always is offroad alone I also get annoyed at the chorus of 'OMG NEVER LEAVE PAVEMENT ALONE OR YOU'LL DIE' from some folks but legit let someone know where you'll be and at what point they should be worried, that just makes sense. Close to Tahoe there should be people everywhere but you never know. If you start getting offroad with a single vehicle often one of those satellite emergency locator devices is well worth the peace of mind IMO.

Was up there second weekend of June and almost every "trail" I tried was closed and locked up. That being said if you take Highway 50 the Soda Springs OHV road is open, there was still a bit of snow and ALOT of slush and mud but totally manageable. Had a great time, nothing to worry about doing alone either.

I should also add, Genoa Peak was closed, Logan House Creek was closed, and Mount Watson Trail were all locked up

Try going up 80 and take the roads to Fordyce Lake. Easy 4x4 and fun. Plenty of people out there. Fordyce is all over google.

I’m not sure if this is a post dripping with sarcasm or you aren’t really referring to the Fordyce Trail. There are plenty of trails in the general vicinity of Fordyce that are easy for stock vehicles to navigate, but Fordyce Trail itself is not that type of trail. If you were to attempt Fordyce with, say, a stock 2019 TRD OR MT, you would fail soo hard social media would make a mockery of you and your truck and it’s mangled body panels and destroyed drivetrain.

I've never done them, but iirc 'Fordyce Lake Road' and 'Fordyce Creek Trail' are two different things. The former is a moderate road near the Signal Peak trail to Fordyce Lake. The latter is the difficult trail of which you speak.
