I'm looking to add racks to be able to Add RTT for trips. Does anyone have experience with RTT and caps specifically the high c caps. Or even just a rack for cargo. Is a RTT on top of the cab not advised due to noise and drag? Thanks for any knowledge in advance

I'll save you a lot of time......

Cap manufacturers will only give you a roof top weight rating of around 200ish lbs. That's probably dynamic weight rating which means it'll hold a bit more when the truck isn't rolling down the road (static load). Nobody will tell you how much you can put on static weight wise.

A RTT on your shell with a reasonable weight will probably be fine. Where you might see issue is heavy duty off-roading with that weight up top. IF the dynamic weight is too much while off-road, you'll see some cracking in the paint that might be an indicator of the stress you are putting on the shell. It's fixable though. Fiberglass and paint is all you need. If needed, you can weld up a steel support system tying the roof to the frame of the truck.

You will need a rack system that will support the weight. Most tracks will be fine, but the towers or rack on the tracks might need a little more support, extra cross bars might be the ticket. The weight ratings for these systems will be dynamic weight ratings and you aren't going to get static ratings.

    Hope this helps.

Awesome yep it sure does. No plans on any heavy duty off roading. Mostly regulars trails to find a camping spot
