My 1st truck was a 98 5 lug extracab automatic. Loved that truck, romped that truck, beat the crap out of it, all kinds of shenanigans. Got it in HS when I was 16. I hacked the frame up learning to weld on the truck, boxed the frame, front bumper. Put mcneil front fenders on it, 31" tires, Doetsch tech lift spindles for awhile, then found a Fabtech kit with uppers n coils. Then the tranny lost reverse right about the time CEL came on and flashing constantly. So I parked it, non op it.

Years later bought 97 5 lug single cab 5 speed off my grandpa. Took everything off my extracab n put on the single cab and parted out the extra cab.

Just curious, what made you choose the JD kit over others on the market?

I like that the JD kit you don't have to cut the UCA mounts andweld new ones, plus it comes with shock hoops and a cross brace. I would of went with the ESB kit for the fact they use pickup spindles to eliminate the LBJ and converts 5 lug to 6 lug. But the price is more then JD fab and you have to make your own shock hoops.

Got the kit on. Drove it down the street to a dirt field and passanger tire hit the bumper. Going to cut the bumper off and set the preload. But drives pretty smooth compared to the Fabtech scrap, even without an alignment. Can't wait to see how much better it will ride after preload and charged with nitrogen and alignment.

It's my day off and I'm bored, so ima put the AAL on to help the Bro lean and wheel spacers to widen the rear1203181343_HDR.jpg

So I got down in the dumps n discurriged when the battery fell over arcing out and setting the engine bay on fire. Melted a ton of wires, hoses, and my spirits. But it wasn't too bad fixing it tho. A couple rolls of electrical tape n several feet of vacuum and fuel lines oh and a new battery n it started right up!
    16902.jpg 16897.jpg
Melted the hood latch cable so I ripped the grill off to yank it open. And dirt was the only thing I could think of at the time to put the fire out. Hints why the dirt in the engine bay.
