HIDs in 2019 taco

HID ballast....can be 3m tape ( double-sided tape) to inner wall of engine? or heat from ballast or engine will unglue it over time?

 

I never had an issue in my climates with double sided tape but I always prefer bolting the ballast to something instead. Most ballasts come with a mounting bracket that can be zip tied to 100 different spots in the engine bay or added to an existing bolt somewhere. Don’t use tape. Zip ties are better than tape

 

Ideally you want the ballast to get some airflow. They are best in a spot where they get some air to keep them a little cooler but I’ve also ran ballasts up inside the top of the fender with no airflow for years in HOT AZ with no issues also.

 

There is also a plethora of reasons why leds out perform hid.

Light output, cutoff sharpness, light spread/throw are better in HID vs LED. even theretrofitsource will agree. And they are more of an authority than any of us on here.

 

Not really going to get into it here. It's been debated many times in this forum and there are benefits and drawbacks to both types of lighting. I personally have used both and have no issues with my led setup.

 

I had the morimoto Xb 5500k. I definitely liked them better than stock but I wasn’t feeling the slight blue tint. I just put in some xtr hid philips xv2 capsules (4800k) and it’s a night and day difference. I don’t see any hint of blue now and the bulbs themselves are even brighter than the Xb’s
