Hello everyone on TW I currently own a 2018 Tss off-road Tacoma and love it!. I’ve been looking for a 1st gen for about 3 years now! I have come across a 2002 Taco limited Trd off-road 4x4 double cab. This truck has about 250k miles on it. Has a check engine light for catalytic converter. Clean title Texas truck.
At 115k the power steering, transmission and rear diff we’re flushed. As well as front diff and transfer case and tranny fluid changed. The timing belt was also changed at 115k
At 234k plug and plug wires changed and battery terminals
At 251 brake changed, body lubed front brake pads and rotors changed.

This truck is about 4 hours from
Where I live and my concerns are the timing belt needing changed and the catalytic converter problem as well as the high miles of course. I know these trucks are made to last and can!
The seller is asking $5900 which I do believe is a deal!

    Any Info anything to
Look for lMK what TW thinks!

Buy it... I would if that thing is closer to me. Everything else can be fix, mileage should not be a concern.

Check the frame, if its good the rest of the problems are an easy fix.

I have a 2002 Toyota Tacoma Dbl cab TRD 4x4 with 151,000 mileswhich I purchased in May 2009. The prior owner had the vehicle for about 8 months. This vehicle had a bad case of axle wrap. I injected over 20 hand lever pumps of grease into the axle slip joint and the axle wrap went away. The truck did not move up hills like it should. In Aug 2011 I installed new spark plugs (NGK (4302) #BKR5EKPB-11 Lazer Platinum Spark Plug), spark plug wires, and PCV valve and the truck V6 engine improved significantly.
In June 2014 at 248,000 miles I had a shop replace the timing belt, idler, tensioner, water pump, thermostat, camshaft seal, drive belts, and radiator hoses (the shop told me that the timing belt, water pump, and drive belts could have easily gone another 100,000 miles and saved the parts so I could examine them) . The front disk brakes on the Tacoma Dbl Cap are undersized for the weight of the vehicle so in Sept 2018 I purchased new Toyota Tundra Front Brake Rotors, Tundra 13WL 231MM calipers (Tundra 2005 parts) and had a brake shop install the parts. This improved the braking a lot. I now have 304,546 miles (today I drained the tranny fluid and replaced with Valvoline MaxLife ATF and 10 oz of Lubegad Red). I change the engine oil after 4000-6000 miles with Castrol Synthetic 5-40 wt oil. I change the oil filter about once a year (I disassembled my last Toyota oil filter after about 10,000 miles and the filter was relatively clean). I need to get the shocks and rear leaf springs replaced (never been replaced to my knowledge). The prior owner had Toyota replace the Front Suspension Ball Joint Assembly (Warranty).
I have Yokomana Geolander LT265/75R-16/D1 119R 8 ply rating tires because I was getting too many flat tires using lower rated car tires.
I am pleased with my 2002 Toyota Tacoma. The 5 ft bed is short ( I have a Leer Cab on it).
