Mine rattles like crazy, a locking door would be nice just to keep it secure. Though there isn't a chance in hell I'd put one of those billet ones on there. My old 96 M3 had an actuator that would engage when the car was locked so the door couldn't be opened, I'd love something like that.

that is what I was talking about. If you could find a way to run it into the central locking system all you would have to do is find a place to mount it inside the fender and create a tab of some sort for the plunger to insert into on the inside of the fuel door. If I knew dick about electronics I'd give it a whirl, but I don't...

you could always just put a locking gas cap...:D contact Shane (Sittin Sic) he used to sell the Stant Locking Gas Cap...I'm sure he'll hook it up again...

its also cheaper, no drilling necessary...

^just trying to help you out boolay...

you could shave the gas door and relocate it to the inside of the bed...but is that really worth it? it would cost you a pretty $$$...not saying that it wouldn't look good...if you do go this route I would like to see tons of pics....

I think we should go back to the 70's and put them behind the license plate!! I was getting gas a few months ago and almost ripped mine off, caught on my shirt walking past it.

i believe they stopped doing that cause people would overfill the gas tank and the excess would drip onto the tail pipe...maybe if its hot enough would catch on fire...that's the most logical reason that I could come up with...

Not sure if it will help but my 95 has a locking door. Go ask the dealer for a door for a 1995 Tacoma. Or go to a salvage yard then look and compare and see it will fit. You should be able to order a color I would think....

The real reason is it is a PITA to keep the god dam licence plate from snapping back and spilling gas all over your shirt. Its like this on my 89 wrangler.

Ahhh would have been great if Toyota put a locking door cover or something that isn't so easy to open and do whatever. But I guess a locking gas cap will have to do for now.
