My truck's starter has been giving signs of going out for the last month. So, I bought a new one and got it installed today. As soon as we reconnected the terminals the alarm went crazy and it won't crank. It's pretty much dead. I know this is vague, but has anyone had similar issues with a new starter? Does anyone have a clue what it could be? We thought it might be the third party security system the previous owner installed, but it has never caused an issue before. So, we're stumped and nothing seems to be working.

If the alarms going off, that's why it won't crank. The aftermarket alarm has a starter kill. Connect the battery and hit disarm on the fob. If that doesn't work, try turning the ignition key to the on position before you connect the battery. Another option that might work, connect the battery and then stick the key in the door and turn the key to unlock.

    1. Remove aftermarket alarm
    2. Throw alarm in garbage
    3. Start truck
    4. Drive truck to mini mart
    5. Buy a cold 6 pack
    6. Enjoy beer

Seems like a straight forward fix
