Excited to be here. I’ve always wanted a Tacoma and now, after many arguments with the wife later, I have one.

We are driving from sunny AZ up to CO for a month. We have two mountain bikes that I would love to put side mounted(to not lose the bed space) with a softtopper as our tent.

I’ve been told softtopper doesn’t sell them anymore. Is there an alternative compatible with that particular top? Thanks in advance, point me in the right direction if I missed the thread.

1st timer here so be easy if I missed something!! Thanks everyone

What about a simple hitch rack? Or are you towing something?

I was thinking that as well but we have the potential to be towing. Also, if we are sleeping in the back it would need to be the adjustable hitch rack to have the clearance to open the gate? Or take the bikes off every time we wanted to get back in there. Hassle free...

    I’m open to anything !

Hmm. We travel with 3-4 mountain bikes as well so we can’t use side mounts. And we sleep in a ground tent so no issues for us.

Personally, I’m not fond of the side racks. If I were in your shoes, I would probably just get a tailgate pad, fold up the soft topper, and haul the bikes in the bed. Then just take them out when you’re camping.

Some bike racks swing to the side as well. (Look at Yakima).
