Kinda late notice, and the meetups thread doesn't get a lot of action.
I know its hot as hell out but ... anyone want to go on Sunday mid/ late morning? I was thinking about running through box canyon. But I'd be down to go just about anywhere if someone has a suggestion. Water destinations are always welcome.

If your interested. I'm picking my kid up at 1030 Chevron ironwood and baseline in the morning and heading out from there. Might try to do the coke ovens too . But that ends up being a long day.

Dang wanted to get out that way and scout the back way in to a water resupply point on the azt. Mining company blocked the main way in so the only route now is coming from the florence side

The mining company or the farmers/cattle people have changed all the roads. We went in off the 60 on mineral mine road. There were a bunch of different roads that you could assess going east off of it. We got our state trust permit online, right at the sign. The whole area is different from last time I went and different from 10years before that. There use to be a road from the first set of flag poles that ran due east to box canyon that's not there anymore. And the waterfall was really washed out. Mineral mine road is possible with a stock truck . But i hit my sliders and scraped my mirror going down the waterfall. Wishing I had the bigger tires on . I don't think I would have hit with 33's .I'm not sure i would have made it up going north (coming from florence). I didn't get a pic sorry.I did run into 2 first gens in box canyon. Ones on here infrequently he had a 2wd prerunner. They were coming in from the florence side.
Took me about 4hours leaving from AJ and heading out from florence.

Good to know. One of the routes is mineral mine to lower ajax mine road(not the difficult route through the ajax canyon) other option is via box canyon coming in from the 79 via price station. Access to that box from telegraph canyon rd(east side) was cut off and it's a critical resupply box with no reliable water source from picketpost to the Gila river which is a solid 30 miles of trail. I need to go scout that before the fall sobo hiking season starts.

Will do, I have never explored out there and would like to check it out, just dont want to find myself in a spot where I'd damage the truck or get stuck solo.
