Just finished installing an ARB Twin Compressor on a SleeOffroad bracket. I have the '16 Tacoma OR, which has a space right behind the air intake where I mounted the bracket. I put a 1-pound Viair tank beneath it.

You can find the bracket here:

    http://www.sleeoffroad.com/products/products_air.htm

If you use this bracket mount, I would suggest (the following explanation may not make sense until you have the mount and start mounting):

    1) Remove the air intake compartment (where the air filter sits). You will need that room to maneuver.

    2) Mount the down leg bracket (the one that supports the Slee bracket on the wheel well mount) and the firewall brace (the rear-extending horizontal bracket that attaches to the firewall)

    3) Mount the compressor to the bracket [See Item 4 below] before you try to place it in the engine compartment, especially if you want to hook up an air tank beneath the bracket. If you want an air tank, mount it after mounting the compressor. The SleeOffroad down-leg brace was not predrilled. You will have to do that for the Viair tank. I only drilled one hole in the Slee down-leg brace to secure the tank. That's sufficient. Oh, yeah, plumb your tank BEFORE lowering the whole contraption into the engine bay!

    4) Mount the compressor as far to the firewall side as you can on the Slee bracket. Otherwise, it will be jammed against the air intake. If I remember correctly, the Slee bracket has long mounting slots to give you some play in compressor placement.

    5) Lift the whole contraption (it's heavy) and lower into place. I secured the down-leg brace first, then the firewall brace and then the fender-wall brace.

    6) The fender wall mount has two mount holes. My fingers were too fat to get the provided bolt into the rear-most (toward the firewall) hole. I left it out.

I don't have the compressor plumbed yet to the battery or have not installed the ARB on-off switch through the firewall into the cab. I am merely using the ARB as an air compressor.

Hope this makes sense. Give SleeOffroad a call if you have questions.

Where did you mount the switch? Sorry just read you haven't done that yet either. I'm in the same process, looking at their mount as well, just debating whether I can build my own mount. They do make a solid piece of kit though.

Am I reading these instructions correctly? Can I mount this on the other side of the engine bay? I have a dual battery in this location.

Regarding mounting of the switch, I haven't routed that yet, but will route it through the firewall in an existing rubber grommet in the firewall and use one of the empty switch bays to the left of my steering wheel. I have the standard drive, OR.

Regarding another mount location other than the vacant hole between the air cleaner and the firewall, I'm not sure where else in the 2016s it would fit. Give Slee a call. They might have some ideas.

Curious if anyone has ideas of best practices in hooking to the battery. Do I just use the existing battery wire clamps, or should I replace the negative/positive terminals with a different battery terminal collector? Thoughts?

That mount looks like a nice way to set up in the engine bay. Might have to look into it once I get OBA. Any pics with showing how the fit is with everything around it?

Well, here are 3 images of proximity of final placement. As mentioned, it is a super tight fit. One of the images will show that I can't quite close the last locking ring on the air cleaner lid because I don't think I slid the compressor far enough toward the firewall when mounting the compressor to the top plate of the bracket. No way I'm going to haul it out to fix it.

    that's a huge compressor.

With regards to the battery connections, I think I read with compressors/winches its best to hook directly to the battery instead of fuse panels. The terminals, hmm that's a good question. I'm going to use the ones that came with the kit for now until I figure out my dual battery setup/switches. Working with offgirdnright now to determine my needs.

Then,I'll pull my wiring install for the compressor and redo everything.

Depending on your future plans for other add ons,i would consider wiring in an aux relay box.

Don't mean to seem obtuse, but what is an aux relay box used for?

Super clean. Pardon my ignorance, but is the 1lb tank to hold or store air while the dual air compressor is on?

Yeah, my thought was, if I were out and about and needed to power an air tool, that it might provide enough 'thrust.' I probably should have just gone with a single compressor because I only intended it to be emergency back up for plugging and refilling a tire. I would 'de-air' the tank when not in use to ensure it wouldn't be a compressed bomb if I were to get in an accident.

The viair 1 gallon fit nicely? Have the bracket and compressor and was thinking of adding a tank.

Actually, it fit quite well. You have to drill the holes in the down-leg of the Slee bracket and mount the tank to the bracket before installing. Get the tank wired with its air plumbing BEFORE you install.

I have been sooooo swamped at home recently I still have not wired the compressor to my battery or my compressor on/off switch through the firewall into one of the free switch bays in my truck. If you get that done, PLEASE post pics about the track that you chose to do each - wire to the battery and set up the free switch bay in the truck.

I am guessing the '17 Tacoma OR is the same as the '16 Tacoma OR that I have (I have the standard). Rig the compressor and the tank and just drop it in to get a feel for how tight things will be. I wish I had mounted my compressor a little farther back on the Slee top bracket. As it is now, I cannot quite cinch the last snap down on the air filter top thingy (see pic).

My compressor arrived today and I am currently on the wait list with slee offriad to get the mount. They will hopefully have more stock in 2 weeks. @Rhubarb Thanks for the write up, I hadn't found a mount for the engine bay and this will work perfect once I can get it.

How long did it take you to mount the compressor and connect wires to it?
