    Hello Everyone:

The situation here is that this will be the second time that I've had to replace brake rotors on my 98 Toyota SR5. Given the design of the stock brake calipers, I was initially forced to realize that there wasn't going to be anyway to remove the caliper & rotor, without opening up the brake line. With that said, it became apparent to be that if ever I were to do this job in the future, I would then have to bleed the brakes, whenever I needed to change out rotors every time...not fun!

So my question to the forum is if whether or not I could replace my stock SR5 calipers with brake calipers from either a Toyota 4Runner, T100, or even something aftermarket.

I would need to look to be sure it would work.

I guessing you never off road the truck so parking lots and roads only ??

In theory you could go with long stainless steel braided brake lines to the caliper giving enough room to remove the caliper and secure it out of the way to eliminate your bleeding brakes every week or so .

No Sir, my truck is just a daily driver, used additionally for the occasional towing of an 8x4 trailer.

Huh? You can remove the caliper off the rotor without undoing the brake hose. 2 17mm bolts on the back of the caliper, undo those and it lifts right off.

Edit: Ok your a 5 lug. The dude in the video shouldnt have had to remove the brake line. Just undo your slide pin bolts and it should come off the rotor no problems, atleast Im pretty sure. @Sperrunner will know.

Actually I found the answer in the comment section of the video. Just undo the lower bolt first, open the caliper like a clamshell then you can remove the top bolt without undoing the brake hose.Screenshot_20190719-230922.jpg
