Braking shudder or vibration and LSD differential fluid

Has anyone ever experienced a severe shutter and or vibration like a warped rotor when braking if the incorrect fluid was put into the LSD differential?

I know that problems occur when turning but this one is about applying the brakes. It seemed to happen shortly after a fluid change in my truck. I have 126 K on it, double cab rear wheel drive and maybe the U joints or carrier bearing is giving it up, but the coincidence of the fluid change and problem start can't be discounted.

What did you put in? Does it only happen when braking or also when coasting in gear/neutral?

I used what I have used often in the past, Valvoline 85W-90 with a tube of friction modifier. I am feeling a small vibration when coasting that calms down with light acceleration.

The worst part of the shutter is from about 5MPH to full stop at the end of a braking cycle.

A few weeks back I flipped my carrier bearing 180* and things cleared up for a while but the shutter came back with a vengeance when braking a week or so later. I checked my U joints and saw now excessive play.

When I use the emergency brake only, the shutter is still there.

I am beginning to think the carrier bearing is the bad guy here. I just may order up new U joints, carrier bearing and do a complete job on the drive train.

I didn't think that 126K with no off roading and normal driving would eat the drive train so fast.

    Anyone with any other ideas?

OK, even though I didn't get hammered with suggestions on this one, but that is ok, stuff like this has been covered before. Site searches and diligent stick to it-ness got me the answer.

Most people say that either the carrier bearing or bad U joints show up under acceleration. Mine not only shuttered under acceleration but at the end of a braking cycle. That one was worse than the acceleration shutter.

I set my camera up under the truck and could see the entire drive shaft vibrating badly.

Pulled the drive shaft and found a frozen U Joint at the differential. Only one side of it was frozen while it could easily be moved on the other plane.

I am doing a complete U joint and carrier bearing replacement at 124K (not the 126 I formerly stated). Fun job but the whole thing is costing $130 vs. about $400 or more in a shop.
