Go to post #39 to see the camera, wiring & handle...

First I’m reusing a post that I started back when we purchased a wrecked Tacoma that we have since sold. The photos were taken for our insurance company. They needed photos to insure the truck for full coverage...

We purchased a wrecked silver regular cab from Copart to fix and daily drive but plans changed. I didn’t know of all the fees Copart tacks on the winning bid, now I know how we won the bidding. Live & Learn... Plus we were hoping there was no frame damage but there was a little on the very end of the frame rails and it’s not in the best of condition as the wrecking yard had the windows down as we had dust & rain storms in AZ. So I pulled out the full interior to clean the truck.

*Edit* I just purchased all the miscellaneous parts & body parts new from the dealership OUCH!

As of 12-3-20 the truck is had the ends of the frame fixed & started the repairs & paint.
As of 2-7-21 we are still waiting for the painter to do the painting.
As of 2-28-21 we are still waiting for the painter... Grrr...
As of 4-3-21 we sold the truck.
Now maybe my better half will let me do a power plant swap in our 15?

    1st. & foremost, We want to say THANKS to @BillDaCat8 he’s a life saver‼️

I will say this is taking much longer and costing a LOT more than I anticipated!

Ok now to why I’ve reposted‼️ We ended up with a part we couldn’t use. We purchased a tailgate from a 2015 Tacoma with an OE backup camera handle, the OE camera and OE wiring from the body to the camera.

Too much to list, but enough to get me in trouble. Repeatedly.
Car-part.com is where I got a replacement door after rolling my truck. You should find what you're looking for easily, and may even get as lucky as I did and find a factory new one.

Did it bend the frame where the hitch and bumper mount up? Rough dude. I have a free tailgate but it doesn't look much better than that and is also Super White.

Might as well upgrade the interior to a plate from like Mobtown or somewhere.

I would really love to do this but being nothing is going right with this project I pretty sure it’s not going to happen, plus the better half is making a stink...

Well I found a seller on fleBay that sold me a switch directly. This project going to go over budget fast if I keep this up much longer...Maybe start a Go Fund Me?

Very cool! Do the 86 seats bolt in or just a little track modification required? Sounds like you’ve got some good stuff to install, I have been eyeing some of those Viking coil overs for my truck too, keep me posted on how you like them please sir.

I like that you’re sticking with the five-lug platform, that’ll be a sweet truck with the manual behind the v8, regardless of which one you decide on. Id want a 6 spd but I love rowing gears. I have always loved the idea of making a 5lug single cab sleeper, so I’m definitely looking forward to seeing how this turns out

The Toy 86 seats are mounted to Planted seat brackets and still use the sliders. I was going to put them in our 15 Access cab but the airbag systems are different between the 15 Taco & 17 86 seats. Some guy makes a little adapter/relay to make the systems work together but he’s refusing to make them anymore...

Thanks to @BillDaCat8 he supplied parts we needed. He’s a great guy and he has no idea how much he help us...

    Yep.
Most of RC guys that have swapped out our bench for bucket seats trimmed the male end to fit the smaller female receptacle found on buckets. Trim, test, repeat.

Edit: Not sure if that's an option with the '86 seats.

They are great to work with. I ordered a used wiper switch from them. I wanted intermittent wipers and mine didn't have it. They sent me pictures of the switch before shipping and charging me for it to make sure it was what I wanted. Awesome people to work with
