1st, my fan started working only on high speed, requiring me to jiggle the blower motor connector to fix. Then, the AC air stopped getting cold AT ALL. So, I replaced the blower motor connector - FIXED. But still no cold air. So, I replaced the magnetic clutch relay in the fuse box. Amazed. Instant cold air. I did a $600 ac repair for $25. I joined this chat forum specifically to tell this story and help someone else just like I did from reading from other's experiences here.

Under the glove compartment. Replacement resistor and harness $22 on Amazon. About a 30 minute job and you're good. Don't just do the jiggle fix. It won't work for long.

Bad news: air never stayed cold, in fact it stopped getting cold at all. After hours and days of eliminating other causes - a/c amplifier, freon, fuses, cabin air filter, loose connectors, the sensor on bottom of compressor....I realized my problem was probably the compressor, which meant draining the freon, cleaning the lines, replacing the air dryer, installing a new compressor and praying I wouldn't screw it up with no guarantee. So I took it to Toyota dealership and paid $1,250 for the security of knowing it would work for a lifetime or they'd fix it. Alot of money, but it works like new.

Strange. Had this same thing happen after I replaced the resistor. Was on a road trip when I did the repair. Thought I was good. Headed off into the desert in Nevada and no cold. Was so pissed. Left it on for a while and eventually the AC kicked back in. Hopefully it doesn't go out.

The magnetic clutch worked briefly after I replaced the blower motor switch, but it did eventually freeze up and never worked again. I've read that a lack or excess of refrigerant can cause it to freeze - but draining or adding refrigerant never had any affect on the compressor after it finally stopped clicking on and off by itself. By the way, my magnetic clutch relay kept blowing out, so that was another indication that the prognosis was bleak.

OP, suppose you could give us a list of what was replaced and the final cost?
