so I pondered about it and doing some rough estimates of the benefit/cost ratio analysis to see how it plays out, a complicated situation it is!

the only benefits I am actually going to realize is that the job is done right my way no fcks, with my limited experience/knowledge (lack of proper tools and other equipment) and the frequent breaks I am required to take in my old age it might take 2x and probably 3x as long as a pro would take to do the same job (assuming they are not half-assing it ) as it would seem to be the case sometimes

A BCR is the ratio of the benefits of a project or proposal, expressed in monetary terms, relative to its costs, also expressed in monetary terms. A BCR takes into account the amount of monetary gain realized by performing a project versus the amount it costs to execute the project. The higher the BCR the better the investment. General rule of thumb is that if the benefit is higher than the cost the project is a good investment.

Those do look good, however they are cheap and thin aluminum. If you were to use it properly, you'd be doing a lot of bashing and mashing to get it back into shape.

If you just want it for looks, eBay and Amazon are your friends. Or call up places like Bay Area Metal Fab.

there is a TW vendor in PA that makes custom ones for 1st gens with a cutout that I have been looking into
i like form and function

 

It’s .25” aluminum just like any of the aftermarket vendors. It’s actually pretty solid and much better than the flimsy stock one. I’ve seen a few pix on here of ones people have beat on hard and they’ve held up well. Ive hit mine a few times and it’s like new still.

Obviously if you are beating on a lot of rocks, you should go full length steel skids.
