    Hey all,

Im wondering what you all prefer out there between 285/75/16s and 285/70/16. Looking to size up here soon and while I know there isnt a huge difference between the two Im still interested in hearing suggestions/ recommendations. Also, I know a CMC will be necessary for 285/75/16, but what about with 285/70/26?

    thanks!

CMC may not be necessary. It all depends on what wheel and or tire you go with; I doubt you will fit them without some sort of lift. I have 285/75/16's Wildpeak AT3's, Level 8 wheels and a 3/2 leveling kit and plenty of room at full lock. I'm assuming you meant "16" and not "26" as I'm relatively certain that doesn't exist... Either way, knobby M/T COULD scrape or rub on a mud guard or body, the biggest thing is clearing the UCA with the bigger tire.

So ill be putting on a 2.5-3" king suspension lift prior to getting tires. For wheels im looking at the Stealth F5 16x8" 4.5 bs. Tires it kind of depends, if I can get away without cutting with 285/70/16 then Ill go that route. But if ill need to cut either way ill just size up to 285/75/16 since id be cutting with both sizes.

Also I would be going with BGF Ko2's for tires. I will be replacing OEM UCAs with some TC ones

Is your truck under warranty? I wanted to do a suspension lift but that required cutting on the cross member. TacomaWorld said if the stealership puts on the lift they must still honor the warranty if something goes wrong with the parts down the road. The physical location where I get my truck serviced said "any modification to the truck other than cosmetic things will void the warranty". So definitely avoiding cutting would be in your bests interest.

I can't say for sure if you would rub on the UCA or not but the stock ones would definitely rub on anything bigger than a 265. The KO2's shouldn't take up too much space since they aren't too aggressive. I'd say go for whatever your gut says. Some people here have valuable input, others just argue for the fun of it. It's your truck, might as well make it what you want.

yeah still under warranty which is why Id rather not cut if I didnt have to. Maybe the best route is to go with the biggest size possible without cutting while its under warranty, and after its up go crazy with the cutting haha

What kind of tires? I’ve looked for 285/70/16 in a few different brands and it seems like a lot don’t make it in that size.
