Can you take a similar picture with the vent closed?

Closed vent pointing up and down. Full fan, defrost setting.

I just closed the vent in my truck and put the defrost on and there's still a little air pushing out the vent. I don't think your truck is broken (ie warranty issue) just that this is a design flaw.

Hey @OP, I have found that the driver's side vent in every car I have owned always stays open regardless of the position of the air vent switch. I always assumed it was a fail safe feature so that at least one vent is always open. Is that vent also blowing in other modes where it shouldn't or just defrost?

Apparently I've been wrong this whole time. I just tested on a Honda Pilot and the same thing happens. I never noticed it on my last vehicle (maybe because it was old and they didn't operate that way back then)? Anyway I guess I can put this to rest to say its normal.

Sorry to hear it didn't work out the way you wanted. I keep that vent aimed at the window because I, too, do not enjoy air being blown directly on to me.
